Details
The Paso del Norte (PDN) Bridge serves northbound and southbound pedestrians, as well as northbound passenger vehicles. PDN has a maximum of 12 lanes for passenger vehicles and up to 14 lanes for northbound pedestrians. The City of El Paso operates two pedestrian toll booths for southbound travelers entering Mexico. PDN includes Ready Lanes for travelers with RFID-enabled identification documents. PDN also provides a Dedicated Commuter Lane (DCL) for passenger vehicles, which is only available to travelers enrolled in the SENTRI program.
The Paso del Norte bridge is owned by the City of El Paso on the U.S. side and the Government of México on the Mexican side. The facility was completed in 1967, following the ratification of the Chamizal Treaty when the channel of the Rio Grande River was moved. The facility was renovated in 1991 and expanded in 2009.
